Sermon 11/09/2025

From November 9, 2025 Sermon – Genesis 22:1-19

1) How do you respond to the idea of God being mysterious?  Are you comfortable with not having all of the answers to your questions?  Why or why not?

2) Have you seen examples of God using hard circumstances to shape you?  Share an example.  How have those times made it possible for you to experience a deeper aspect of God’s blessing and presence?

3) The means by which God has enacted his salvation is multi-faceted and complex.  This is reflected in the Bible using so many different metaphors to describe salvation (i.e. justification, adoption, sanctification, rescue, etc.).  What does this complexity tell us about the dilemma we must be saved from?  Why is Jesus so important to us understanding salvation?

4) The sermon makes the point that God is mysterious and quite different from us as finite beings.  But yet, this God is tenacious in making it possible for us to be near him.  Reflect together on what this means about God’s love.
