02 Dec A Word From…
Session
As Advent is now in full swing, I am pleased to let you know of some things going on with the Session.
First, it’s time for the new class of Session elders! Thera Barber and Andrew Bradford have already been ordained and served on Session before. We are grateful for their willingness to serve again! Thera is being presented to take over the last part of James Cooke’s term. Andrew will begin a new 3-year term. Caitlin is being presented as a brand new elder! She worked hard to prepare, was examined by the Session, and now we are excited to present her to the congregation for ordination.
Second, the balcony renovation is almost completed! It has been a bit of an adventure, but I hope you take a look at the major upgrade that has been made to our seating and visibility upstairs. This is something that the Building & Grounds committee has mentioned in a prior update, but I wanted to include it here as well. The Session is working hard to make sure that we continue to maintain and upgrade our building. The Lord has given us this place as a part of our witness to the community and we want to be careful to steward it well. Thank you so much for your faithfulness in giving so that we can tend to this corner of our ministry.
As the coming year gets rolling, I look forward to letting you know about some other ministry projects we are working on as a Session. That is a little bit of a tease though; more later…
But for now, our desire as a Session is to keep growing into God’s design for the leadership of his Church. And we believe that means growing as servants and shepherds. Please pray for us as we spend time praying for you, as we seek to administrate the life of this congregation in a way that honors Jesus, and as we work to make sure First Presbyterian Church is a stable witness to the grace of Christ for generations to come.
