From December 21, 2025 Sermon – Matthew 1:18-25 – Fourth Sunday of Advent (Love)

1) What are some examples of where you have felt the unexpectedness of God?

2) The sermon referenced the problem of viewing God in a “deistic” way, instead of in a truly Biblical way.  How does your life demonstrate your view of God’s connectedness to the stuff of everyday events – whether you see him as mostly distant and uninvolved, or intimately involved in everything?

3) The sermon made the point that most of life is not extra-ordinary.  It is instead made up of a billion little moments that seem so ordinary.  If it is true that God is intimately involved in those ordinary moments, what does it look like for us to trust God in the ordinary?  Think of an ordinary scenario, then consider what trust in God would look like specifically in that circumstance.
