Here at the beginning of the summer it feels like many things are slowing down. Hopefully that is part of the natural change in seasons while we, as a Session, take a deep breath, look back and reflect on what is ahead. But like early-summer seeds in the ground, there are also still plenty of things going on even if they aren’t always noticeable at the surface yet.
There are some “nuts and bolts” items. We’re trying to tend to things like our zoning designation with the City so we can fix our sign (that one feels a little silly actually). We’re working to get some long-term structures in place to help us make good budget decisions for the future (thank you Admin Committee!). We continue to chip away at stabilizing and updating our charming building for long-term ministry. We’re working on a plan to introduce Deacons into the life of our congregation to lead our ministry of mercy.
And of course we’re trying to make sure we are positioned well with our staff for the many, varied, and often changing needs of ministry in our context and as a small-ish congregation (that by God’s grace is growing!).
As I write all of that, it doesn’t feel as slow as when I started writing. But even still, the Lord is at work here and it is exciting to see where he is leading us!
So please continue to pray for the Session as we seek his face for wisdom. And if you have any questions, never hesitate to ask.
