From August 30, 2026 Sermon – Psalm 29

1) The sermon mentions both activism (being sure to be involved in the right causes) and moralism (being sure to look like the right kind of person) as ways we might try to hide from God.  How do you demonstrate activism to moralism?  What are other ways you are prone to hide from God?

2) When we do those things, what is it about God we are trying to hide from?  Or what is it about ourselves we don’t want seen?

3) The sermon emphasized that Christ doesn’t tend to reveal himself all-at-once.  Rather in his grace, he tends to lead us one step at a time, gradually unwinding the stuff of our hearts so that we can know him more fully.  But that means we have to live with time we don’t have everything all-together as we are growing.
          A. How do you feel about not having it all-together?  Why do you think you feel that way and what does it reveal about your view of Jesus?
          B. How can we avoid becoming flippant or lazy about growing in holiness, while still cultivating a rich view of Jesus’ grace towards us as we grow?
