The Dogwood Literacy Council has seen a lot of change this past year, and as one of their long-time ministry partners, FPC has been glad to walk alongside them. Leah Ellcey has recently taken on the role of Executive Director and Brandy Cowell that of the Assistant Director. We are grateful to see them in our community as they reflect Christ’s values in their work and lead one of our ministry partners as they do so. Dogwood Literacy just began their fall classes, which not only include English but also health, financial, and digital literacy.
You can support Dogwood in the following ways:
– Ask about volunteer opportunities: Leah and Brandy are always grateful for help with cleaning, sorting, or moving things around the DLC space.
– If you are interested in tutoring, reach out! No knowledge of a secondary language or special training is required, just a willingness to help. See DLC’s website for more information: https://dogwoodliteracycouncil.org/.
– DLC’s mum fundraiser is happening right now, and all proceeds go to keep classes free and available to the community:
