As we move into Spring, it is a season of newness and growth. Many of us also move into what seems to be the busiest time of the year. We are attempting to finish school well, while anticipating summer activities. Gardening is upon us, and the weeds will grow. Field trips will happen, whether you sign the form or not. And don’t forget the end-of-school parties. It is a season of busyness, which is why it is so vital to leave room. Leave space for your own rest and rejuvenation (a Sabbath), leave air in the conversation for a deeper answer. When the world seems to keep spinning faster and faster, it is important to build in safeguards that assist in pumping the brakes, leaving room for us to hear the stillness, and the quiet voice that follows (see 1 Kings 19:11-14). When we can walk with God in that way, we can also walk with each other.
On a different note, we have the summer season that will be here sooner than we think. For those who are new to our church, this is a season that doesn’t have as much of a cadence as the school year. Events may include a garden tour, bread club meetings, pool meet-ups, book reads, Arkansas Naturals Baseball games, and anything else that we as a congregation feel meets the desire and need of being in community with one another. If you have something that sounds like others would enjoy, let us know. Or better yet, talk to me about joining the Community Committee.
