1) Consider a time when you felt satisfied. What was satisfying about that time? What was going on in and around you that felt so satisfying?
2) Do you feel confident that the Lord is near to you in all of your circumstances? Why or why not?
3) The sermon mentioned that we struggle to notice the nearness of Jesus because of our many distractions. Make a list of your primary distractions. What would it take to prune some things away so you can begin to notice the presence of Christ?
4) The sermon points out that our go-to distractions are often asking something other than Jesus to be a source of salvation. In other words, our distractions become idolatry. Look again at your list and reflect on what you are asking those distractions to provide you. Where you find idolatry, go to a trustworthy believer and practice confession (and assurance of forgiveness!) together.
